The Amazon Artists Archive is an AMI initiative to showcase the talent and innovation of our partners in the Ucayali Region. Featured works encompass everything from art, design, cooking, music, writing, to businesses and organizations. A strong current through these projects is the revitalization of ancestral innovations into every day life. Every week we will feature a new artist or project and when the week is over they will be easily accessible through our Archive. Contact information and links of the contributing artists are provided at the bottom of the page.
Kené Sikati Kirika
Kené Sikati Kirika is a unique book produced by partner organization, Alianza Arkana, in collaboration with local traditional artisans in the Ucayali Region. During the pandemic, many Shipibo artists did not have a market for their work and struggled to find means to support their families. This book was created in response to this need. Kené Sikati Kirika features fascinating documentation of the Art of the Kené, the iconic Shipibo designs patterns, testimonies of contributing artists and samples of their designs in the form of colouring pages, and gorgeous photography by Shipibo photographer, Isa Rono.
